Day 8 - Vinales (day 2)

Jenny woke up with a bad stomach ache, so we delayed our horseback ride in the valley until the afternoon. Neither of us were certain if our stomachs would make the 5-hour ride, but we made it with no problems.

Our guide was about my age, and worked the government supervising a number if fincas, or fields. Jenny, the guide and I ambled along through the valley (Jenny's horse was Bailerine, mine was Negrito). It was a very pleasant afternoon, and we enjoyed moving slowly, chatting, and being in this beautiful valley.

Our guide started eyeing my sneakers from the get go. He figured we had the same size shoe and offered to trade his boots for my sneakers. I thought about it (I can always get new sneakers, and Id consider it charity for this guy), but Jenny wisely counseled against it. We did leave some clothes with Marilyn. The clothes and shoes in Cuba are of very poor quality and you can't buy new Nike, etc clothes at all in the country (as far as I could tell), so they're keen on donations from travelers.
